Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by various extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses.
ASK1 (Apoptosis Signal-Regulating Kinase 1), also known as MAPKKK5, activates MKK4 and MKK6, which subsequently activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases, respectively. ASK1 is activated by TNFR and Fas signaling through TRAF family members and Daxx. Overexpression of ASK1 induces apoptosis, while catalytically inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in a variety of human and mouse tissues.
