Target Information
Human malignant neoplasms carry rejection antigens recognized by autologous CD8+ cytolytic T lymphocytes (CTL). The MAGE family of genes encodes melanoma-associated antigens (MAAs). MAGE-1 is expressed in various human tumors (melanoma, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast, gastric, colorectal, ovarian, renal cell carcinomas) but not in normal tissues. Therefore, MAGE-1 can serve as a marker for early detection and a potential target for cancer immunotherapy.
