CDC25A는 CDC25 인산화효소 패밀리에 속하며, 인간 세포에는 CDC25A, CDC25B, CDC25C의 세 가지 유전자가 존재합니다. 각 유전자는 세포 주기의 서로 다른 단계에서 기능합니다.
CDC25A는 세포 주기의 G1 및 S 단계 진행에 필요하며, cyclin-dependent kinase CDC2의 두 개의 인산기를 제거하여 활성화합니다.
DNA 손상 시 CDC25A는 특이적으로 분해되어 염색체 이상을 가진 세포의 분열 진행을 방지합니다.
CDC25A는 종양유전자(oncogene)이지만, 암 발생에서의 정확한 역할은 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
