Product Specific Information

This MAXL8DS monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse Axl, a member of the TAM family of tyrosine kinase receptors (MerTK, Tyro3). Axl is highly expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages, and its expression can be upregulated by TLR ligand stimulation.
The antibody is suitable for flow cytometry on both native and fixed/permeabilized cells. It has been tested on mouse bone marrow cells cultured with GM-CSF, using ≤ 0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration is recommended for best performance.

Target Information

AXL is an oncogene associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia, colon cancer, and melanoma. It encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in signal transduction from extracellular matrix to cytoplasm, mediating growth factor binding and cell proliferation.
TAM receptors play roles in apoptotic cell clearance; deficiency in mice leads to autoimmune-like symptoms similar to systemic lupus erythematosus.
Axl also functions as a potential entry receptor for filoviruses and serves as a marker for Siglec 6+/Axl+ dendritic cells in human blood.
Soluble Axl, produced by proteolytic cleavage, can indicate inflammation or cancer when plasma levels are elevated.
