Target Information
Voltage-gated K⁺ channels are key determinants of neuronal membrane excitability. Differences in K⁺ channel expression and density influence action potential waveforms and firing patterns across neuronal types.
Kv3.1 potassium channels are highly expressed in neurons that fire rapid trains of action potentials, notably in the auditory brainstem, which is involved in processing sound intensity, timing, and spatial localization.
