Target Information
Several potassium channels are involved in electrical signaling in the nervous system.
Inwardly rectifying K⁺ channels allow potassium to flow more easily into the cell than out, contributing to muscle and neuron excitability.
The KCNJ4 gene encodes an integral membrane protein of this channel family with small unitary conductance.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
