Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody DM1A recognizes the 50 kDa cytoskeletal protein alpha tubulin across multiple species, including human, mouse, rat, monkey, dog, pig, bovine, goat, hamster, guinea pig, kangaroo, amphibians, sea urchin, yeast, and tobacco plants.
Tubulin, the major component of microtubules, is a dimeric protein composed of alpha and beta subunits. It binds GTP and can be modified by phosphorylation or acetylation, influencing polymerization and depolymerization. The DM1A antibody specifically recognizes the C-terminal end of the alpha tubulin isoform (amino acids 426–430).
Applications Reported:
Suitable for immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry (formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues).
Applications Tested:
Tested in western blotting under reducing conditions (2 µg/mL) and in immunofluorescent staining of paraformaldehyde-fixed, permeabilized cells.
Purity: Greater than 90% (SDS-PAGE)
Aggregation: Less than 10% (HPLC)
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered
Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is part of a heterodimer with beta tubulin, forming the fundamental building block of microtubules. Each subunit has a molecular weight of approximately 55 kDa. Microtubules are essential cytoskeletal elements that provide structural support, intracellular transport, and a key role in mitosis.
Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes are highly conserved across species. The alpha tubulin gene shares high similarity with the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene, with expression predominantly observed in differentiated neuronal cells.
