Product Specific Information
The 2G10 monoclonal antibody recognizes beta tubulin class III, a component of microtubules in the cytoskeletal network. Beta tubulin class III expression is found exclusively in neuronal cells of adult mammals. During fetal development, transient expression occurs in both glial and neuronal precursors in the subventricular zone.
Identification of beta tubulin class III is useful as a structural marker for developing and mature neural cells. Due to the high conservation of this protein, clone 2G10 is expected to recognize human, mouse, rat, and bovine beta tubulin class III.
Applications Reported: Immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, immunohistochemical staining (frozen and paraffin-embedded tissues), and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested: Suitable for immunocytochemistry at ≤5 µg/mL. Optimize concentration for best results.
Target Information
BetaIII-tubulin is a neuronal marker and one of the earliest indicators of neuronal differentiation. It serves as a specific probe for neuronal cells and tumors derived from them. Although primarily found in neuronal cells, it is also detected in Sertoli cells of the testis and transiently in some non-neuronal embryonic tissues.
