Product Specific Information
- A 1:500 dilution of MA5-45930 detects Alpha Synuclein pSer129 in 10 µg of Mouse Brain by ECL immunoblot using Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG:HRP secondary antibody.
- Binds specifically to phosphorylated Ser129 on alpha-synuclein.
- Does not detect unphosphorylated Ser129 alpha-synuclein.
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein is part of the synuclein family (including beta- and gamma-synuclein), abundant in the brain and involved in synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking. Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, suggesting roles in signaling pathways.
Defects in the SNCA gene (encoding alpha-synuclein) are linked to Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides are major components of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease brains. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
Associated diseases include Parkinson Disease 1, Autosomal Dominant, and Dementia, Lewy Body.
