Product Specific Information
A 1:500 dilution of MA5-45927 was sufficient for detection of Parvalbumin in 15 µg of Rat Brain by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.

Target Information
Parvalbumin (PV) is a calcium-binding protein expressed in specific muscle fibers and fast-firing neurons. PV belongs to the EF-hand protein family and plays a role in calcium decay during muscle contraction and relaxation. Expression is observed in GABAergic interneurons that maintain excitation/inhibition balance in the cortex and hippocampus. In amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), parvalbumin immunoreactivity is absent from neuron populations lost early in disease progression.
