Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, canine, chicken, finch, human, mouse, non-human primate, Xenopus, and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
It specifically recognizes the ~50 kDa GAP43 protein phosphorylated at Ser41 in Western blots of rat brain lysate.
In some tissues, the antibody also detects a higher molecular weight protein recognized by the Pan GAP43 antibody, possibly a GAP43 aggregate or oligomer.
Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.


Target Information

GAP43 (Neuromodulin) is associated with nerve growth. It is expressed by developing and regenerating neurons, and to a lesser extent by reactive glial cells. GAP43 is a major component of the motile growth cones that form the tips of elongating axons and also plays a role in axonal and dendritic filopodia induction.
