FLASH 단백질은 caspase 8의 death-effector domain(DED)과 상호작용하는 생쥐의 apoptosis 관련 단백질과 높은 유사성을 보입니다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 이 단백질은 Fas receptor, FADD, caspase 8을 포함하는 사멸 유도 신호 복합체의 구성 요소로 작용하며, Fas 매개 apoptosis의 조절 역할을 수행할 수 있습니다.
대체 스플라이싱으로 동일한 단백질을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변형체가 생성됩니다.
