Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of TCTP only when phosphorylated at Ser53.
Target Information
TPT1 (translationally controlled tumor protein 1) is a 23 kDa member of the TCTP family of calcium-binding proteins. It is localized in the cytoplasm and widely expressed, functioning as a transcriptional activator, calcium transporter, histamine inducer, and anti-apoptotic caspase-3 inhibitor.
TPT1 acts as a cytokine-like molecule that induces the release of histamine, IL-4, and IL-13 from basophils, as well as IL-8 secretion and calcium responses in eosinophils.
Due to its broad expression, TPT1 plays a pivotal role in allergic responses and is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Down syndrome.
