Product Specific Information

Antibody detects endogenous levels of E-cadherin only when phosphorylated at Tyr754.

Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It encodes a cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in CDH1 are associated with various cancers (gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, ovarian). Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to cancer progression by promoting proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells, while the cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization.
E-cadherin plays a central role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity. In humans, E-cadherin is encoded by the CDH1 gene on chromosome 16.
