Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene have been identified in various tumors, including anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangement involving ALK and the nucleophosmin (NPM) gene results in the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion gene.
ALK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK.
