This antibody recognizes an epitope in the p19 subunit of IL-23.
In ELISAs, it does not cross-react with recombinant mouse IL-23 p19, IL-23 R, IL-12 R beta, IL-12 p35, recombinant human IL-23, IL-23 p19, recombinant rat IL-12, IL-12 p40, IL-12 p40 homodimer, or IL-12.

Reconstitution: Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit of IL-12 disulfide-linked with a protein p19.
The p19 subunit, like p35 of IL-12, is biologically inactive by itself. IL-23 interacts with IL-12Rβ1 and an additional receptor subunit termed IL-23R, which contains a STAT4 binding domain.

IL-23 is secreted by activated mouse and human dendritic cells.
Biological activities of mouse IL-23 differ from those of mouse IL-12:

• IL-23 does not induce significant IFN-γ production.
• IL-23 induces strong proliferation of memory T cells (not naïve T cells).
• IL-23 activates mouse memory T cells to produce proinflammatory cytokine IL-17.

In humans, IL-23 induces proliferation of memory T cells and moderate IFN-γ production by naïve and memory T cells, compared to IL-12.
