Product Specific Information
This antibody detects recombinant human (rh) ICAM-1 in direct ELISAs and Western blots.
In Western blots, it shows no cross-reactivity with rrICAM-1, rhICAM-2, rhICAM-3, rhVCAM-1, and rmDCC.
Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with:
- An extracellular domain of five immunoglobulin superfamily repeats
- A transmembrane region
- A cytoplasmic domain
ICAM-1 has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares considerable amino acid sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
It binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1) and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.
Expression:
Detected on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils.
Expression increases upon inflammation and is also observed in some carcinoma and melanoma cells.
Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in various inflammatory syndromes.
