Product Specific Information

The MB19-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by B cells during all developmental stages except terminally differentiated plasma cells. Follicular dendritic cells also express CD19. Together with CD21, CD81, MHC class II, and CD19, it forms a multimolecular complex associated with the BCR. Signaling through CD19 induces tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and B cell proliferation. Staining with MB19-1 is typically dimmer than with the rat anti-mouse CD19 antibody clone 6D5.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and functional assays.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes at ≤2 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal dilution should be determined empirically.
Storage and Handling: Use in a sterile environment.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Purity: >90% (SDS-PAGE).
Endotoxin Level: <0.001 ng/µg antibody (LAL assay).

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on all peripheral B cells and some myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 acts as a key regulator of B cell proliferation and differentiation, functioning as a signal-amplifying coreceptor with the B cell receptor (BCR). Mutation of CD19 can result in hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity. It is expressed in all B cell precursor leukemias and plays a central role in B cell signaling pathways.
