Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD28, a disulfide-linked homodimeric type I glycoprotein (monomer of Mw 44 kDa) which is a critical costimulatory receptor of T cells.
Target Information
CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein. It belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes. CD28 provides a critical costimulatory signal by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells, preventing T cell anergy or premature apoptosis. In murine lymphoid organs, CD28 is expressed on all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, with expression highest on immature thymocytes. Dysregulation of CD28 is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
