Target Information
PTF1A is a component of the pancreas transcription factor 1 complex and plays a crucial role in mammalian pancreatic development.
It determines whether cells allocated to pancreatic buds proceed toward pancreatic organogenesis or revert to duodenal fates.
PTF1A maintains exocrine pancreas-specific gene expression, including elastase 1 and amylase.
Mutations in this gene cause cerebellar agenesis, and loss of expression is observed in ductal-type pancreatic cancers.
