Product Specific Information

The WM59 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD31, also known as platelet-endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) and gpIIa. This 130–140 kDa surface protein is expressed by endothelial cells and at low levels on leukocytes and platelets. CD31 plays key roles in adhesion, cell-cell and cell-matrix interaction, and signal transduction.

Target Information

CD31 (PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling via ITIM motifs that recruit protein-tyrosine phosphatases upon phosphorylation. It is expressed broadly in the vascular system, mainly at cell junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, important for cell-cell interactions. CD31 functions in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immune regulation, and thrombosis, serving as a key vascular regulatory molecule.
