Product Specific Information

Description:
The 390 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD31 (PECAM-1, gpIIa), a 130–140 kDa surface protein expressed on endothelial cells, leukocytes, and platelets. CD31 mediates homotypic interactions important for adhesion, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, and signal transduction. CD38 has been reported to bind CD31.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections. It can also be used in in vitro functional assays (Functional Grade purified 390 recommended for functional assays).

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse thymocytes and splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell numbers may range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize antibody titration for best performance.

Target Information

CD31 (PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling via ITIM motifs that recruit protein-tyrosine phosphatases upon phosphorylation. It is widely expressed in the vascular system, primarily at intercellular junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 plays key roles in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immune regulation, and thrombosis, making it a central molecule in vascular biology.
