Product Specific Information

The antibody was cross-adsorbed to unphosphorylated eEF2K (Ser-398) peptide before affinity purification using phospho-eEF2K (Ser-398) peptide (without carrier).
This antibody detects a 105 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of eEF2K on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of Jurkat cells treated with Calyculin A, and this reactivity is removed after lambda phosphatase treatment.


Target Information

EEF2K is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase in the calmodulin signaling pathway whose activity is increased in cancers including breast cancer.
EEF2K (eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase) regulates protein synthesis by controlling the rate of peptide chain elongation. Upon activation by upstream kinases such as AMPK or TRPM7, EEF2K phosphorylates elongation factor EEF2 at a single site, rendering EEF2 unable to bind ribosomes and inactivating it, thereby reducing the rate of protein synthesis.
