Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types and is involved in cell motility, structure, and integrity.
Beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as cytoskeletal components. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin) in a two-stranded helix structure.
Because beta actin is ubiquitously expressed, it is frequently used as a loading control in Western blot assays. Antibodies to beta actin serve as valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
