Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the gC antigen of HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Virus type 1), a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Herpesviridae family.
Target Information
Members of the Herpesviridae family, Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2), are common human pathogens. HSV-1 (Human herpes virus 1) typically causes cold sores, while HSV-2 (Human herpes virus 2) is associated with genital herpes. Transmission occurs through viral shedding from infected individuals.
Herpes virions contain a large linear dsDNA genome enclosed in a capsid and enveloped. HSV strains possess over 70 open reading frames (ORFs) and have been implicated in neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
