This antibody recognizes the following Hepatitis B virus (HBV) subtypes: ayw2, ayw3, ayw4, ayr, adw2, adw4, adrq+, adrq-.
Specificity of the antibody HB5 was verified by ELISA on a panel of virus subtypes.
The antibody HB5 does not cross-block with the antibody HB3 (MA1-19263).
Target Information
The hepatitis B virus (HBV) is an important cause of acute and chronic liver disease and is the most common form of parenterally transmitted viral hepatitis.
HBV surface protein antigens (HBsAg) consist of three co-terminal proteins: large (LHBs), middle (MHBs), and small (SHBs, major protein).
LHBs and MHBs share a hydrophobic, repetitive, membrane-spanning S domain, while MHBs includes a 55 amino acid preS2 region.
HBV infection affects approximately 350–400 million people worldwide and can lead to hepatocellular carcinoma in chronic cases.
Immunization against hepatitis B is a key component of preventive medicine and is widely implemented globally.
HBV belongs to the Hepadnaviridae family and causes more severe infections than hepatitis A virus.
