Product Specific Information

The IB52C31H10 monoclonal antibody recognizes human COX IV (cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV). COX IV, also known as cytochrome c oxidase or Complex IV, is the terminal complex of the electron transport chain localized in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It functions in energy metabolism by transferring electrons from cytochrome c to oxygen. Dysfunction in COX IV is associated with increased reactive oxygen species production and cellular toxicity. Genetic defects can lead to severe metabolic disorders affecting high-energy tissues such as heart, brain, and muscle.

Applications Reported:
This antibody has been reported for use in microscopy, immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin-embedded sections), and immunocytochemistry.

Applications Tested:
Tested by immunocytochemistry of MeOH-fixed human cells at ≤10 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined by the end user.

Target Information

Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is the terminal enzyme of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. It couples the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c to oxygen, contributing to the proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The enzyme complex has 13 subunits encoded by both mitochondrial and nuclear DNA. COX4 (COX4I1) is one of the nuclear-encoded subunits and may play roles in regulation and assembly of the complex.
