Product Specific Information
PA3-813 detects recombinant human retinoic acid receptor (RAR) gamma-1. The immunizing sequence is 100% conserved in mouse. This antibody detects RAR gamma-1, but not RAR gamma-2 or the alpha/beta forms of RAR.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation, and gel shift procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~50 kDa protein representing RAR gamma-1 from transiently transfected 293T cells.
PA3-813 efficiently super shifts the human RAR gamma-1/retinoid X receptor (RXR)/RAR response element complex in gel shift experiments using various response elements.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to the N-terminus of RAR gamma-1 (Cat. # PEP-228), available for neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
Retinoic acid, a metabolite of vitamin A, is necessary for normal organogenesis but acts as a teratogen at high levels during embryonic and fetal development.
It functions through interaction with the nuclear protein retinoic acid receptor (RAR), a member of the steroid and thyroid hormone receptor superfamily.
RAR regulates gene expression by binding specific DNA response elements.
Three major subtypes exist: alpha, beta, and gamma.
RAR gamma-1 is predominantly expressed in skin, while RAR gamma-2 appears early in embryogenesis and in embryonal carcinoma cells.
RAR gamma is also known as RARD, and its corresponding gene is NR1B3.
