Product Specific Information

This antibody specifically recognizes the ~180 kDa NR2B subunit of the NMDA receptor.
No cross-reactivity is observed with NR2A or NR2C subunits.
Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption of the antibody with the fusion protein used for immunization.

Target Information

NMDAR2B is part of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors.
These receptors are involved in long-term potentiation, a mechanism underlying memory and learning.
NMDAR2B plays roles in neuronal development and is implicated in disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death.
Overexpression of NR2B correlates with enhanced learning and memory, while reduced expression is linked to age-related memory impairment.
Phosphorylation at Tyr1472 may increase synaptic NMDAR expression, contributing to synaptic plasticity.
NMDR2B forms a heterotrimer with NR1, NR2, and NR3 subunits.
Dysfunction of NMDAR2B is associated with epileptic encephalopathy and autosomal dominant mental retardation.
