PA3-753 detects Peroxiredoxin 4 (Prx 4) protein in human samples.
This antibody is specific for Prx 4 and shows no cross-reactivity with other Prx isoforms.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunocytochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects ~23 kDa and ~20 kDa proteins representing pro-Prx 4 and mature Prx 4, respectively, in human PC3 cell lysate.
The antigen used is purified human recombinant Prx 4 from K562 cells.

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
Mammalian Prx proteins (approximately 50) share sequence homology and thiol-specific antioxidant activity, distributed across all kingdoms of life.
Mammalian Prx members are grouped into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx types.
Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes have thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.
Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa in size and vary in subcellular localization:

• Prx I, II, VI: cytosol
• Prx III: mitochondria
• Prx IV: endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
• Prx V: peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
