Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45599 detects Brevican in 20 µg rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP.
- Detects approximately 140 kDa and smaller fragments due to proteolytic cleavage.
- Formerly sold as clone S294A-6.
Target Information
Brevican is a major chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan in the adult brain extracellular matrix. It belongs to the lectican family and is highly expressed in the central nervous system, contributing to synapse stabilization and inhibition of neural plasticity. Secreted from astrocytes and neurons as a 145 kDa core protein with or without CS chains. Cleavage by ADAMTS enzymes produces a 55 kDa N-terminal fragment containing the epitope EAMESE.
