Target Information
TRPC5 belongs to the transient receptor potential (TRP) family and is one of seven mammalian TRPC proteins. It is a multi-pass membrane protein that forms a receptor-activated, non-selective calcium-permeant cation channel. TRPC5 can function alone or as a heteromultimer with TRPC1, TRPC3, and TRPC4. It interacts with various proteins such as calmodulin, CABP1, enkurin, NHERF, MX1, RNF24, and SESTD1. TRPC5 activity is thought to be regulated by phosphatidylinositol second messenger systems activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors. It may also be activated by intracellular calcium store depletion. Diseases associated with TRPC5 include Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis and Pyloric Stenosis.
