Description:
The 8B2 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Aiolos, a 58-kDa member of the Ikaros family of zinc finger transcription factors. Aiolos expression is restricted to the lymphoid lineage, with highest levels in B cells, followed by NK and T cells. It forms homo- or heterodimers with Ikaros proteins and shows nuclear localization upon IL-2 stimulation in T cells. Aiolos plays a role in IL-2-mediated anti-apoptotic signaling by regulating Bcl-2 expression and is involved in B cell development, particularly during the pre-BI to pre-BII transition.

Applications Reported:
This 8B2 antibody is reported for use in immunoblotting/western blotting.

Applications Tested:
Tested by immunoblotting of reduced cell lysate from mouse splenocytes. Recommended concentration ≤ 5 µg/mL; optimal dilution should be determined experimentally.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the Ikaros family of zinc-finger proteins (Ikaros, Aiolos, Helios), which are hematopoietic-specific transcription factors regulating lymphocyte development. Aiolos is critical for B lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation, and participates in chromatin remodeling through formation of Ikaros/Aiolos dimeric complexes. Multiple isoforms are produced via alternative splicing.
