Product Specific Information

Description:
The BV13 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse VE-Cadherin (CD144), a 120 kDa member of the type II Cadherin family. VE-Cadherin mediates homophilic adhesion between endothelial cells and localizes at adherens junctions. It is constitutively expressed throughout the vasculature and is essential for endothelial cell functions such as migration, survival, growth inhibition, and tubular structure formation. VE-Cadherin⁺CD45⁻ cells from the yolk sac or AGM region may give rise to hematopoietic cells.

Applications Reported:
This antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, Western blot, and frozen tissue immunohistology. Intravenous injection of BV13 induces a concentration- and time-dependent increase in vascular permeability in heart and lung tissue.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of bEnd.3 cells. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration is advised for each assay.

Storage and Handling:
Use in a sterile environment. 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Purity: >90% (SDS-PAGE)

Target Information

VE-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein, part of the cadherin superfamily located on chromosome 16. It contains five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. VE-cadherin mediates homophilic adhesion and plays a critical role in endothelial cell cohesion and junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been reported, though its full sequence is not yet determined.
