Target Information

Proteinase K (E.C.3.4.21.64) is an extracellular serine endoproteinase produced by Tritirachium album Limber.
It is active over a wide range of temperatures and buffers, with optimal activity between 20°C and 60°C and pH 7.5–12.0.
Activity is enhanced by up to 2% SDS or 4 M urea. Calcium contributes to thermostability but is not required for catalysis, allowing activity in buffers containing chelating agents such as EDTA.
