CD42a는 단일 사슬 막당단백질로, GPIb와 비공유 결합 복합체를 형성합니다 (MW 23 kDa).
휴지기 및 활성화된 혈소판, 단핵구, 거핵세포에서 반응하며, 혈소판의 세포막 부착 부위 역할을 합니다.
GPIb/IX 복합체는 von Willebrand factor의 결합 수용체로 작용하며, 혈소판 접착에 관여합니다.
