Product Specific Information

Description:
The PC61.5 antibody reacts with mouse CD25, the 55 kDa interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (IL-2Rα). CD25 is expressed by early progenitors of T and B lineage as well as activated mature T and B lymphocytes. CD25 binds IL-2 with low affinity alone but forms a high-affinity IL-2 receptor complex with CD122 (IL-2Rβ) and CD132 (common γ chain). The PC61.5 antibody inhibits IL-2 binding to both high- and low-affinity receptors, affecting lymphocyte differentiation, activation, and proliferation.

Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain/IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in T and B lymphocyte proliferation. The IL2 receptor complex (IL2RA, IL2RB, IL2RG) forms a high-affinity binding site for IL2. IL2RA homodimers yield low-affinity receptors, while IL2RB homodimers yield medium-affinity receptors. IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, regulating precise gene expression. IL2 acts as a growth and differentiation factor, stimulating B cell proliferation, NK cell activity, and inhibiting granulocyte macrophage colony formation. Disruption of IL2RA in mice causes immune dysregulation resembling ulcerative colitis, indicating its crucial role in immune response. Mutations in IL2RA are linked to interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
