This antibody detects endogenous levels of CaMKII only when phosphorylated at Tyr231.
Target Information
Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CaM kinases) are a subfamily of serine/threonine kinases including CaMKI, CaMKII, and CaMKIV.
CaMKII is a ubiquitous serine/threonine protein kinase activated by Ca2+ and calmodulin (CaM), involved in cell cycle and transcription regulation.
There are four CaMKII isozymes (alpha, beta, gamma, delta) that may be co-expressed in tissues.
CaMKII alpha is autophosphorylated at Thr286 upon Ca2+/CaM binding, a process known as Ca2+/CaM trapping, implicated in synaptic information encoding.
