Cathepsin V (CTSU, CTSV, CATL2, cathepsin U, cathepsin L2)는 리소좀 시스테인 단백질분해효소로, 각막 생리 조절 및 흉선 내 불변사슬 분해에 관여합니다.
이 단백질은 각막 상피, 활성화된 대식세포, 대장암 및 유방암에서 발현됩니다.
정상 인간 흉선 및 고환에서 1.8-kb mRNA 형태로 존재하며, peptidase C1 family에 속합니다.
시스테인 단백질분해효소는 전구체 형태로 합성되어 리소좀 또는 세포 분비 경로로 운반됩니다.
