SCN4B 단백질은 나트륨 채널의 개폐 동역학을 조절하며, 특정 알파 나트륨 채널의 활성화 전압 의존성을 음의 방향으로 이동시킵니다.
이 단백질은 주로 배근신경절(dorsal root ganglia)에서 높은 수준으로, 뇌, 척수, 골격근 및 심장에서 낮은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
SCN4B 유전자의 결함은 Long QT Syndrome type 10 (LQT10, MIM:611819)의 원인이 되며, 이는 심전도상 QT 간격의 연장과 다형성 심실성 부정맥을 특징으로 하는 심장 질환입니다. 운동이나 정서적 스트레스 시 실신 및 돌연사를 유발할 수 있습니다.
