Product Specific Information

The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine mainly produced by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. IL-13 plays a role in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearance, and cancer-related immune modulation. In humans, IL-13 contributes to B cell isotype switching and down-regulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of Th2-polarized mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤1 µg/test in 100 µL final volume (cell number 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize antibody titration for best performance.

Fluorophore Information:
eFluor® 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue®, excited at 405 nm and emits at 445 nm (Violet laser). Ensure instrument compatibility.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses, down-regulates macrophage activity, and inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine and chemokine production. IL-13 is implicated in allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils, influences B cell maturation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II, and promotes IgE isotype switching.
The IL-13 gene is part of a cytokine cluster on chromosome 5q, close to IL4, IL3, IL5, and CSF2.
