Description:
The 17A2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD3 complex. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon) are essential for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and all mature T cells. Binding of 17A2 to CD3 initiates intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.25 µg per test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR surface expression. It includes CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11. CD3 plays a role in TCR-induced growth arrest, survival, and proliferation. CD3 antigen is present on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with immunodeficiency.
