This antibody recognizes an epitope on the N-terminal structural domain of alpha-tubulin in various species.
Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is part of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits. Each subunit has a molecular weight of approximately 55 kDa. The alpha-beta tubulin heterodimer forms the basic building block of microtubules, which are filamentous structures found in nearly all eukaryotic cells. Microtubules provide structural support, serve as intracellular transport pathways, and play a critical role in mitosis.
Gamma tubulin is involved in microtubule nucleation. Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes exist and are highly conserved across species. The alpha tubulin gene shows high similarity to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene, and its expression is predominantly observed in differentiated neurological cells.
