TNF alpha는 tumor necrosis factor (TNF) 초가족에 속하는 다기능성 염증성 사이토카인으로, 주로 대식세포에서 분비되어 TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 및 TNFRSF1B/TNFBR 수용체에 결합합니다.
면역세포 조절, 세포 증식 및 분화, 세포자멸사, 지질대사, 응고 등의 생리적 과정에 관여합니다.
TNF alpha는 비환원 조건에서 SDS-PAGE 시 약 17 kDa 단일 밴드로 나타나며, 2~5개의 단위체로 구성된 다중체 형태로 존재합니다.
마우스의 knockout 연구에서 신경 보호 기능이 시사되었으며, 종양 보유 마우스에 주사 시 종양 괴사를 유도하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
또한 TNF-alpha는 세균, 바이러스, 기생충 및 특정 진균 감염에 대한 면역 반응, 특정 종양의 괴사, 자가면역 질환, 인슐린 저항성, 암 등 다양한 질병에 관여합니다.
인터페론-감마와 함께 작용 시 특정 변형 세포에 대한 세포 용해 또는 세포 정지 효과를 나타냅니다.
