Carrier-Free

• Reconstitution:
  Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening. Reconstitute SCF in sterile, distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Further dilutions should be made in aqueous buffers supplemented with carrier protein.

• Storage:
  The lyophilized preparation is stable at 2–8°C but should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage, preferably desiccated.
  After reconstitution, stable for up to one week at 2–8°C.
  For maximal stability, aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

Stem Cell Factor (SCF) is the ligand of the c-Kit oncogene and is expressed by various structural and inflammatory cells in the airways.
Binding of SCF to the c-Kit receptor induces receptor homodimerization and activates signaling pathways such as PI-3, PLC-γ, Jak/STAT, and MAP kinase.
SCF expression promotes mast cell survival and the release of histamine, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and chemokines.
Inhibition of the SCF/c-Kit pathway reduces histamine levels, mast cell and eosinophil infiltration, IL-4 production, and airway hyperresponsiveness, suggesting potential therapeutic relevance in inflammatory diseases such as asthma.
At least two isoforms of SCF are known to exist.
