Target Information
STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that acts as a key component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β), creating a strong antiviral response.
STING may function as a translocon, influencing type I interferon induction and apoptotic signal transduction through its association with MHC-II. It facilitates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, mediating death signaling via ERK pathway activation.
This protein is generally localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
