Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that acts as a key component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 pathways to induce type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression, establishing an antiviral state. STING is also involved in apoptotic signal transduction through association with MHC-II, aiding in detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA. It is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
