Product Specific Information
Research Use Only (RUO) human recombinant monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems and are ideal as controls for assay development using human samples. Recombinant antibodies are generated by cloning specific genes encoding the desired antibody into an expression vector for in vitro expression.
Advantages include improved specificity and consistent performance across lots.
This product is a humanized format of a mouse monoclonal antibody.
It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal assay performance.
Target Information
CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T-cell surface glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes and functions as a critical costimulatory receptor by binding CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells.
CD28 prevents T cells from becoming anergic or undergoing premature apoptosis. In murine lymphoid organs, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28. Expression is highest on immature thymocytes and decreases in mature T cells.
CD28 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
