Target Information
Ki-67 is a nuclear protein expressed during late G1, S, G2, and M phases of the cell cycle. It contains a forkhead-associated (FHA) domain and associates with euchromatin and nucleolar regions.
Expression patterns vary by cell cycle stage: perinucleolar in G1, nuclear matrix in G2, and chromosomal during mitosis.
Ki-67 is widely used as a proliferation marker since it is absent in G0 cells and increases through mitosis.
In tumor tissues, Ki-67 index correlates with histological grade and serves as a prognostic indicator.
Commonly used as a neuronal marker for cell cycling and proliferation studies.
