This antibody is specific for mouse IL-27/p28 protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with IL-27A/p28 from mouse sources (100% homology with the immunizing sequence).
Based on ≥90% homology, possible cross-reactivity with rat IL-27.
Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined.

Target Information

IL-27, a member of the IL-12 family, is a heterodimeric protein consisting of the p40-related protein Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (EBI3) non-covalently linked to an IL-12p35-related protein, p28 (also known as IL-30).
IL-27 is produced by activated APCs and mature dendritic cells, acting on NK cells and naïve CD4+ T cells.
Binding of IL-27 to WSX-1/gp130 activates JAK1, STAT1, and STAT3, leading to STAT1/3 phosphorylation.
WSX-1/TCCR-deficient mice show impaired Th1 responses and increased susceptibility to L. monocytogenes infection, indicating IL-27’s role in initiating Th1 responses.
IL-27 induces the Th1-specific transcription factor T-bet and suppresses GATA-3, contributing to Th1 differentiation.
Recent studies show IL-27 exhibits antitumor activity by enhancing CTL activity, inhibiting tumor growth, and inducing regression of neuroblastoma tumors.
